Once Gone, Gone
Neither is it love nor the lack of it.
Neither is it trust nor the lack of it
It seemed so easy to dismiss before.
A day dawns with casting shadows
Foretelling harsh quietness of evening
The blind heart awakens to see
Hurting mist seeping vile all over
The heart in veiled confusion
Finds no path back to pre-dawn’s calm
When all was well and nice and warm
It had all been for naught
The hand is writing on the wall
Neither evil, mind you, nor unjust
Meaningless, futile and un-reclaimable
Not confidence nor the lack of it
Neither is it faithfulness nor the lack of it
It is respect and the lack of it
That fells hour-glass and spills sand
Stealing all heart chamber drama
Never sucked back in like soda thru a straw
Nothing left for tomorrow.
It is finished.
