Rozita
Have you ever thought to reason why
Rozita feels this urge to fly?
To jar the door of her life’s cage,
To pen a new ode on her page,
To rid some image her mind has grasped
Of lost life chances in her past
Weighing so heavy on her soul,
It veils the real story she has told?
Perhaps we all should ponder why
She holds this awesome urge to fly,
To push a little at this old world
To unmask the heart of this young girl
Who has the will to roam the sky
And sees this chance may pass her by
Through glass so tainted pale and gray
To fail completely to portray
Her song recited in deeds well done
The only accountable under the sun.
Could we be the reason why
This child is unsure that she can fly?
Did we fail somehow to let her know
That she’s the star in her life’s show
And can fly and sail and glide and soar
Un-trapped by some un-yielding door.
Let her look upward to the sky
Unfold her wings so she can fly.
The fates may not see this as her call
Her wings may break and she may fall.
The tragedy is not whether she can fly
But in preventing her a chance to try.
